Blocking neighbour's 24/7 sound

Hi,

We have a neighbour who seems to run a raunchy 'panting' sound 24/7 and it's getting on our nerves:)

We want to block the neighbours sound without having to silence our own, occasional, in game sounds from within our own land space.

Any ideas, please?

Many thanks,
Dave.

Open your land tools (click on the parcel name at the top of the screen) and under "media" you'll find a tick box called "restrict spatialized sound to this parcel". Tick it. That's it.

Isn't the neighbour the one who's supposed to do that in this case?

IM them and ask them to do that. If they don't respond, AR.

Yes. The neighbor should limit the sounds to their parcel.

If they won't, do as Johan suggests.

Thanks to everyone and the restrict sound tip. I will IM the owner and ask if they will do it.

Best wishes,
Dave.

Another way of silencing specific sound sources can be done.

Click View > Beacons > Sound Sources

Yellow cross-hairs will appear on your display of nearby sound sources. Zero in on the source of the annoying sound. Right click on the object > More > Mute object. Repeat the process to turn off the beacons.

Works in most cases. I've had difficulty with complex objects on the rare occasion.

I just had the opportunity to try "restrict sounds to this parcel" and it seems to work both ways. It blocks sounds coming and going, so there's really no need to ask you neighbor unless you want to.

I have played around with natural nature sounds such as the ocean, wind, bird songs etc, and have discovered that a little natural sound is nice, but too much is overwhelming.

The general script I use will loop 10 seconds of a sound file and play it as a continuous loop out to about 30/40 meters from the sound object source. However I understand it is also possible to script a sound so that it is only audible within an area range you select.

Can anyone point me towards such a script example?

Could also suggest it might be possible to apply such a script to a stream but am unsure of this point

Regards

John
