microphone question

after finally getting a new soundcard after a week of no sound
i get everything set up im all happy to hear things again but i have a small issue that no matter what options i click unclick turn up turn down i cant figure out what to change or undo before i install voice i want to fix this so i dont drive myself batty

i had this fixed at one time but now i dont remember what i did i know ..how i dont remember im not sure its been a bad day and i just cant remember

when i talk into my mic on my headset im hearing myself in my headset

what do i have to check or uncheck to fix this please?

It depends. But for me it was Line in /Mic in, and turn off Stereo Mix
