Warning: Messages not getting through

If you are an island owner that is suffering though co-location issues (teleports down, an inablity to rez objects, and intermittantly unstable connections to the asset server, etc.) there is one more thing you need to be aware of.

I am now getting emails from customers and friends asking why I am ignoring their IMs. Of course, I am not receiving their IMs, nor am I getting offline messages in my email. The net effect of this is absolutely horrifying ... both my friends and my customers see me online, assume I am getting their messages, but that I am indifferent to them.

I have no idea how to work though this latest issue, but I wanted to pass it along to others who may be in the same boat.

Post it in your profile for the time being. Something like: Due to SL issues beyond my control, I am not receiving IM's nor are they going to my email. Until a solution is found, if you have problems, please either send me a PM in the forum, or email me a (insert a new shiny temp email here).

No clue what could be causing that, beyond doing the usual checklist and then getting a Linden to restart the sim. Or can estate owners restart them by themselves?

Good advice. I havent yet to date had this issue. My Ims seem to be going through. If this has been happening over the past couple days, it should be a little better today.

And yes. Private island owners can initiate their own island resets. Comes in handy sometimes

In theory, island ownership shouldn't have anything to do with it. I belive the chat and IM servers have nothing to do with land, although there there may be a glitch that is creating problems with object IM notifications originating from an island, that wouldn't affect player to player IM. I've been getting offline IM's but they aren't showing up in world, although I've heard the same thing from a few other people as well.
