When I drag and drop a folder which has a complete outfit on myself, I lose my hair and any other attachments. Is this typical? It doesn't seem to effect my hair if I put on individual pieces of clothing, just when I drop a folder on myself.

I'm fairly certain that is expected behavior and is the way things are supposed to work. It's always been my understanding that dragging an entire folder onto yourself dresses you in only the objects in that folder. That's why many people have folders to get themselves in and out of alternative avies.
Edited to add that putting on individual pieces of clothing should only replace the items you are putting on. For example, if you are wearing a shirt and select wear for a shirt in your inventory, your current shirt will be replaced with the one you selected. This would not, nor should it, affect your hair.

Ok, thanks Madison. FWIW, I tried making a series of folders that included everything I wanted to wear (pants, shirt, shoes, hair...), but over the course of a day or two, it seems that the contents of the folders would become corrupted (hair would be the wrong color, for example), so the time spent was time wasted. Guess I'll just stick to putting on my pants one leg at time

However, if you right-click an outfit-folder and slect "add to outfit," you should be able to wear the entire outfit without losing your hair. I presume because you are only replacing items in those slots that the folder contains items for. Someone more experienced than me please confirm.

You can use folders to completely replace your current look. I even use a folder to undress. I have just my skin, hair and shape stored in it, and dragging the folder onto my avatar takes off whatever clothes I'm currently wearing.
That's why appearance items like hair are usually copyable, but not tradeable. It allows you to copy your hair into every outfit folder. Right-click your hair (or, even better, highlight hair, skin, eyes and shape at once by holding the shift key down and clicking them), right click and "Copy" (or ctrl+c), and paste the item(s) into every outfit folder with right-click + "Paste" (or ctrl+v).
After buying a new dress and putting it on, you can also open the appearance menu and use the "Make Outfit" button in order to create a complete outfit folder. Mark every checkbox in the "Make Outfit" folder to include all body attachments.

-SS Ah...didn't know about that. I will go try this in a few minutes.

Guess I'll just stick to putting on my pants one leg at time Didn't see your new post yet when I answered, so I explained what you already tried on your own There's a bug (or feature?) that can cause the color changes you describe. When you recolor your hair, the hair in your inventory isn't changed until you take it off. Means, when you're still wearing the hair right after a color / size / position change, and copy / paste the inventory item, the copy will have the old color / size / position. Detach and re-attach prim objects after a change, before you copy them or use the "Make Outfit" function. -SS Neat I didn't know this function yet.

Ishtara: Hmmmm....I think this is what I did. I edited the hair, but never removed it before I made copies. Thanks. I'll have to try this again. It's much easier to drop one folder. Thanks.
