Do transferred islands still only pay $195/mo?

The Island Price Increase FAQ mentions that until February 2007, residents who bought islands that still only cost $195/mo to run would continue to pay that lower monthly fee, but the policy would be re-reviewed in Feb.

Well I haven't heard an update since then- if I were to buy someone's Class IV, $195/mo sim, would I only have to pay $195/mo as well, or does it go up to $295 now?

Thank you.

They cancelled that back in January.

Regarding February 1st and region transfers

In November 2006, we stated that the older, lower priced islands would retain their lower monthly fees for the new owner in the event of them being transferred. We also said that this would be reviewed on February 1st 2007. For the time being, we have decided to maintain current policy. Any subsequent changes will, of course, be announced with sufficient notice.
Grandfathering was/is only guaranteed through 2007, I don't think they made any announcement or commitment for 2008 except that they'll announce any change with at least 60 days notice (http://blog.secondlife.com/2006/11/14/private-island-pricing-committments/).

Also, beware there are lots of scams involving the lower tier islands due to people being willing to pay more for them.

You say 'they canceled that' but the passage you quoted made it sound like the $195 fees are still in effect. Based on that and shiney's post I'm guessing that yes, the old fees are in fact still in place?

Sorry :o. The original plan was that after February 2007, transferring an old sim would mean the new owner pays the $295/month. And that's what "cancelled" referred to :).

So if you buy a $195/month sim now, you'll pay $195/month as the new owner as well.
