This forum is NOT here for polls and the general discussion of the sort that Linden Labs closed the sponsored forum for. This forum is here for residents to ask questions, and to receive answers. "The Truth Of Copybot", "Vote: Stop LibSecondLife Now", and other such topics are NOT appropriate fanfare for this forum, and need to stop. You are directly impairing the function of this forum as a result.

And your question was? Oh wait it was just a rant in the same vein as what you were ranting about. Funny my use of the fourm has not been impaired.

Ok.... so what.... Anyone that's posting a new thread, at the end of your title just add "What do you think?"
Also, this is RESIDENT ANSWERS!! That doesn't mean the original poster needs to post a question..... they can start the thread with the answer! It doesn't even matter anyway. Inworld is dealing with a catastrophe.. and so is LL.... I doubt anyone has a problem with any posts regarding the copybot information (except the OP) _____________________

I was going to say... the OP should have been: "How can we get Resident Answers forum back on track again?" -- (ahem... *BUMP* ![]() That's a better way to state it. It appears like peer pressure means nothing to the ones who want to rant, rave and attack others in this forum. They don't seem to care one wit for the others in here who are asking and answering SL questions. The only 2 solutions I see are more aggresive moderation or just closing this forum. _____________________

Always remember to state your answer in the form of a question. otherwise you will be disqualified.
Or, as Susie says, just close down this forum altogether. We don't need no steenkin people asking questions or talking, do we. coco _____________________

We don't need no steenkin people asking questions or talking, do we. coco People are really, really, really angry at Linden Lab and shocked at the goings on and LL's response to them. Since this is the only place where they can communicate those feelings, this is where they slip out. Let's face it, whatever they say about it, the LL blog is really just a one way deal and heavily and arbitrarily censored as well. _____________________

People should remember too that this current flare-up of free speech is hardly the same as the mess that closed the general forum. When that happened you had people just creating a lot of offensive mayhem for the sake of it. What I see happening today and recently, is a genuine grass-roots reaction by the community. People are really, really, really angry at Linden Lab and shocked at the goings on and LL's response to them. Since this is the only place where they can communicate those feelings, this is where they slip out. Let's face it, whatever they say about it, the LL blog is really just a one way deal and heavily and arbitrarily censored as well. Dianne I agree with you in the sense that some people have the need to express themselves but I disagree that a Question and Answers forum is the proper place to do it. Let's face it, LL has decided to stop supporting an all purpose forum and people placing their "polls" and rants in here will only hasten the demise of this forum. There is nothing preventing residents from sending e-mails to Linden Labs expressing their opinions. It was only intented to be a test to see if it worked and so far it hasn't worked too well as the trolls have crept back in. _____________________

It doesn't really matter if they end up closing the forums... I mean, SL will already be closed anyway.

I don't notice any particular trolls.
I believe the Lindens are going easy on it, for the time being. It wouldn't be exactly helpful to try to shut people up on something they are already highly incensed about, and DON'T understand, largely because the Lindens are expecting us to figure out the whole thing by ourselves, and that isn't easy. coco _____________________

Anyone else looking forward to Philip's town hall later? If he actually goes ahead with it, should be interesting.
I think LL have lost the plot as far as the copybot is concerned. These days I get the distinct impression that while he is happy to take our money, in fact he would prefer us not to be here so he can play with the metaverse uninterrupted. |

Soon we're on our own, having to ask RL authorities to protect our rights. Why shouldn't that reflect on the forums too? |

I get the same impression. The metaverse is what counts, the license right for a new web standard. Content creators are just a necessary evil. They have to learn to survive in the brave new world, somehow. Security and a better DRM solution doesn't push the big dream forward. An open source client does. It will also provide every script kiddie with shiny new weapons, when everyone can have a glance at the client source code. |

I've noticed it at other forum sites, that if there isn't a "general topics" forum, users will turn some other forum (the nearest available) into general topics.
It's pointless to fight this. It will happen. People like discussions. |

I get the same impression. The metaverse is what counts, the license right for a new web standard. I'm a forward looking kind of person but I'm afraid people need to realise that what we have HERE & NOW is a tiny, proprietary, niche platform built on the back of assurances made by LL themselves and the hard work of a lot of residents, in whose faces Linden Labs are now pissing. Until such a time as SL IS open source, developed as such, and used daily by a large percentage of the population for their internet business, the claims & analogies, technical & moralistic, made by both LL and the apologists for libSL are bogus and little more than excuses for anti social behaviour & bad management. |

But this problem is a problem that directly involves you, me and everyone in SL and whilst i agree that perhaps some people have ranted i think its with just cause bearing in mind the significance of the problems surrounding libSL and the copybot. This forum is a central point for resi's to get answers and i see a lot of questions being asked and being answered. What would you like to see in this instance, shall we all go and post in the many 3rd party forums and not have a central point for everyone to get information. LLs has allowed a serious problem to develop and we want answers what better place than here where we know that perhaps some Lindens will read the posts than on the 3rd party forums where they will largely go unnoticed? Perhaps it would be better if you read the comments and threads and stop trolling ![]() Peace _____________________

Confusing forums = stated issue/problem

Did someone go far out of their way to make them this confusing? As a veteran of the net, I'm not giving anyone here a hard time because I'm having such a hard time with both these forums and SL. (Note: I easily get confused. It's been that way since my last university degree. ![]() |

Well, it's confusing probably as a result of LL closing the major forums, the topics of which are fairly standard cornerstones for game forums like FSL.
