I see a lot of new product announcements with either text links to pictures, or attached images which aren't visible in the thread itself - you have to click to open each image individually.
What's the guaranteed way of making pics appear in the body of a post?

He added it as an attachment. So I guess you can still add jpgs as attachments and they will show. I removed my other answer because I was wrong. Thanks Ceera for the right answer below.

If you use the UBB Code tags "img" and "/img", in square brackets, on either side of the URL for an image that is on a web server somewhere else, they still work.
