SLurl doesn't show a preview image anymore, other than the default image when no URL is specified. Is it my browser, or did LL change something?

No your right, they have been having issues for some time now. I don't think their system likes IE7 a whole lot. Thats when I started running into trouble. I think they need to do some updating... Why its taking so long... Not sure.
