Not sure if this is really the place for this, but I saw this on the Police Blotter and just have to ask: Are you freaking kidding me? That's all the punishment they got? Why was this person not unceremoniously banned from SL?? It boggles the mind that they only got a 3 day suspension for this. I've seen people get 2 week suspensions for "using weapons," but this only warrants 3 days suspension!?
What am I missing here?

Wow. It doesn't seem like the punishment fits the crime. If there were a protocol and written set of consequences for violations of the TOS, this sort of thing wouldn't happen. But unfortunatley, it appears more like whoever is dishing out the punishments on any particular day gives the person whatever punishment they feel is appropriate...or not. Kind of like the phone weasel thing. /me shrugs

Yeah thats nuts. That should be a perm ban from SL if you ask me. I would call them over that and really raise a stink.

When people are banned form SL, it is not listed on the blotter. However, when something really bad happens, ie grey goo attacks, etc. You may see a lighter punishment then what is really received because they will give suspensions to the person while the go through the procedure for account banning.
It also could be that you don't know the whole story either. No one here knows all the details of what exactly happened.

The way I read it when the lindens officially commented on that blotter, only a 2-week ban would actually imply more serious punishmenst were also being dished out.

If you think that was bad...look at this one! Date: Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Violation: Community Standards: Disturbing the Peace, Global Attacks Region: California, Linden Lab Headquarters Description: Breaking into the building, using a super soaker to spray the server hardware, and causing sims to go down. Action taken: Suspended 1 day.

The second suspension is perhaps almost as funny as the spoof BMW advert in todays Sunday Times, for those who have access to the newspaper it is worth a look.......
But the first one if true is surely far more serious, but I think we should be careful in posting on this issue as Linden can be touchy on matters that concern ID on this site.
Unless it was a genuine mistake between two people who live in the same house/location in real life

I'll bet the griefer was the account holder's little brother who snuck on to big brother's account when he left his password on the login page by mistake Could explain the relatively light sentence.

This forum isn't for general discussion; there are many Resident Sites where this discussion is appropriate — Resident Answers is for Resident-to-Resident help. I'll close this thread...
