Technical Problem (No textures AT ALL)

This was a difficult problem to explain with words alone, so I've included some links to pictures:

Through taking a snapshot:

And in windowed version, with a screenshot:

I have adjusted all the settings from lowest to highest, I've downloaded all the latest drivers for my graphics card. The spec for my machine is below:

Microsoft Windows XP Pro
SP2
1500MHz Processor
224MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP Graphics

The only thing (I think) that's isn't the minimum requirement is the memory under 256MB. If anyone can suggest what I can do to get this working, I'd appreciate it. If you need any further information, let me know.

That's not good at all but it may be related to your memory. Perhaps over time the textures would download but I would guess you would have to wait a veryyy long time for that with only that much memory.

I don't know though. Is this a new situation? Had it been working ok?

No, it's never worked on this machine. I do have it working on my home computer, but this is a laptop I am using. I suspect it has something to do with the graphics; since it's not intended as a gaming machine the graphics are pretty...well, pretty sh**ty. It's not an emergency if it won't work on here, it's just that I can't figure out why it works fine (I mean, I can move around, talk to people, see names...the lag's even less than my PC!!) but the textures simply aren't there.

Very strange =|

There is an option, Client / Rendering / Disable Textures, that can produce results somewhat like your pictures if it is turned on. This option should not have an X to the left of it for normal use of SL.

If you do Preferences, Adv. Graphics tab, what does that show for Graphics Card Memory?

You might try changing that from what it shows to a lower value, if possible, and see if that works. (That's just a random guess I made up.)

There's a thread, Problem with ATI Mobility 9000 , in which its is suggested that one can use the well known Omega drivers or another driver I've never heard of to help with problems with the Mobility 9000. That thread also includes a suggestion to turn off Fog, which is done by Client / Rendering / Features / Fog, or Control Alt 6.

That thread has a picture that looks like yours.

The suggestion for turning off the fog has fixed the problem, so thank you so very, very much =)

The only thing (I think) that's isn't the minimum requirement is the memory under 256MB.

That's a very crucial "only" that you dismiss so casually.

Memory is crucial to entering SL and even 512 is barely adequate. I strongly recommend that you get as much memory as you can afford or your system can accommodate, up to 2gb.

From what I've read on the forums, 1gb is probably the minimum for truly playable conditions, and 2gb is ideal. (More than 2gb does not provide sufficient improvement to be worth the extra cost.)

I went from 512 to 2gb and my draw dropped with amazement at what I had been missing until then.

That's too bad. Not all the way to 64, I hope. Maybe if you take out some of that excess memory you'll be able to set your draw back up. :p

Or did you mean drawers?
