After some effort and agonizing over the best way to handle an upgrade to the new New Resident Kit, it's finished... unless anyone spots some errors etc. Which is where the question in Resident Answers comes in:

Can one or a few mentors, shop owners, help centre persons, and new residents please visit my stand in world and let me know if the presentation and enclosed ReadMe notecard does NOT make sense? Thank you.

So here's what I've done:

+ Updated the kit as a whole with hopefully better organization, and more information. Again, I'm not looking for freebies to stuff into this thing, just good solid information for those who want to read some tips PLUS lots of Landmarks (which have been checked). I also added a new notecard called "The Quick & Dirty New Avatar" for those under 30 day olds who want to just hop from place to place to score their free and nearly free skin, hair etc. (it's meant to be fun and also very handy for your new Alts who you want to de-newbify).

+ The updater is working so if you have an old kit and wish to just receive the update, rez the object called "Rez me (drag to ground) to check for updates to this kit". Bless Hippotech.

(me, trying to break up this long post with a picture LOL)

+ I created THREE core kits:

1. Vendor Version - for shops, help centres and others who wish to distribute a kit at their location. You will need to rez one of the Vendors inside this kit.

2. Mentor Version - for persons who wish to directly transfer a folder (yes, I've pared this down to one folder from two) to another person.

3. The vendor itself - this is what is inside the "Vendor Version" above and contains the actual kit.
The beauty of this system? It pulls from my Hippotech server, always providing the latest version, precluding the need for shops and establishments to swap out boxes every time there is a new version. This will also make it MUCH easier for me to do more timely updates.
Other benefits? It's copy/transfer so you can distribute it at will to your fellow help centres, shop owners etc.
The bad news? It's no modify (I just don't want to risk it becoming a griefing tool) BUT, if you have specific needs (size, shape, texture etc.), send me what you want and I'll make a special vendor just for YOU!

Still with me? LOL

OK, here's the location for anyone who wishes to help me out.

Thank you so much, everyone! As always, if you have suggestions for improvements, notecards of information you wish to send me etc., please do so. This kit only exists because of your generosity and aid. Thank you.

Purrs & Headbonks,
Lu

Oh thank you. Yes please. Distribute at will. The more that see and use the kit, the more that will provide me with some feedback and the better the kit will get, hopefully. Thank you!

Wow Lucrezia, this is just great. Thanks so much for all of your ongoing hard work on this. I've handed some of the kits out, but the vendor system is brilliant. I will be dropping in to get one for my shop as soon as I get a chance.

The kit is fantastic :) One of the mentor groups put out a notice and did add that you would appreciate feedback :)

You are amazing for doing this! Who is it that supplies the medals around here.. one has to be winging its way to you surely!! :)

Awww, thank you. So kind. I'm just hoping this one works for people (i.e. that it makes sense on what the vendor and mentor versions are).

For what it's worth, I was able to figure it out and just put out one of the vendors. I don't have any suggestions right now since I only skimmed through the info. What I saw looked pretty good though.

Thanks for doing this.

Just a note--the "Big Damn SL Glossary" you have in the current New SL Resident Kit is out of date. We are on version 1.0 now. Its available at any NCI or NCI InfoNode in the "SL Glossary" square of the SL Info board. Or you can contact me in world for a copy.

Lucrezia, I can't even count the number of new people this kit has helped. I make sure every new person I come across has one.

Keep up the much appreciated work! :)
