I see there appears to be a lot of ongoing password issues, but has anyone heard of there also being account disabling issues?
My account worked fine last night, but this morning I am being told my account has been disabled when I try to login, and I have no idea why that'd be the case. But perhaps its related to the other problems?

But perhaps its related to the other problems? One of my land customers got his account disabled last weekend, just got it back today. The reason was, that he had bought L$ via ebay. He was told by support, that LL will investigate any unusual L$ buying activity and void all found L$ that were purchased from "non safe sources", including ebay.

Hmm, can't be the issue for me. I haven't purchased L$ from anywhere. I did add my credit card to be able to see the forums, but I can't imagine that's the issue.
Thanks, though.

How can LL tell if $L was purchased on ebay?
Either he received stolen $L or he didn't.

Either he received stolen $L or he didn't. They didn't know it was from ebay, but he got the sum in many little pieces from avatars called 12344 xxx, 12333 xxx and so on, avatars that don't even exist when searched for. That made them suspicious, and they disabled his account.

But perhaps its related to the other problems? this is happening randomly, and there is a vast thread on it, if you search around this forum. just log into your website account and follow the directions there. basically, you'll need to call and verify you true identity, etc. it was also announced in the blog, but not until weeks after the process had begun. at my jobsite, we lost 8 accounts, while 12 other people were not affected ... several weeks before this 'new rule' was announced publicly. don't take it personal. it appears to be random, in general.

I think Robin said in her office yesterday that the password change stuff was a glitch in their backend support system..

Thanks for clearing that up

From: Daniel Regenbogen And ebay is one of the main sources where such things happen, it wasn't an isolated incident. But it also wasn't as you said originally, that someone got their account suspended for buying $L on ebay. Linden Lab is suspending accounts when $L comes from unverifiable sources. Not for the action of buying something on ebay.

Linden Lab is suspending accounts when $L comes from unverifiable sources. Not for the action of buying something on ebay. LL said literally, that it will void any L$ purchases done via ebay. How they might find out is another question.

From: Daniel Regenbogen LL said literally, that it will void any L$ purchases done via ebay. How they might find out is another question. Yes, this happened to somebody I know too. LL disabled his account, and when he called to find out what was going on, they explained that the thousands of $Ls he'd bought via Ebay had been obtained fraudulently. They reactivated his account but said if it comes to their attention that he's bought $Ls from Ebay again his account may be banned. It sounded like a pretty stern telling off.

From: Ken March it's not random, there is always a reason. tell that to two of my friends who are premium members, own land and businesses, are legit as can be, use their credit cards to buy L... and both were locked out until they made the phone call. only one has since had the password problem, which was not instigated by any contact to the support center. she has yet to get her password reset, last i heard. so, it appears to be random in 'some' cases. how's that?

I find this all very interesting, especially in light of the fact that 3rd party currency exchanges ARE allowed.
Trying to eliminate competition for the LindEX? Or just trying to eliminate fake $L sellers?
