For some reason, everywhere I go is a red beacon of light that shows my location..how do I get rid of it.. I have no idea what I changed to make this thing appear?

Thanks,
Cheryl

If it has a red arrow, click the arrow and it'll go away.

Right-click on your mini-map and choose "Stop Tracking"

The beacon will also go away if you fly or walk through it.

One of the things that makes it appear is this:

On some sims, you can only teleport to a fixed arrival point. If you try to teleport to any other point on the sim, you arrive at the fixed arrival point, but a red beacon shows you where to find the location you requested.

And opening the Map and clicking a location will create a beacon in world.

I once did this and started flying toward the beacon...until I realized it was many thousands of meters away!

So did I when I was new. I got it in my head that I was supposed to go to it and I flew a hell of a long way. Eventually a friend told me what the red beacon was.

Another way to not get the red beacon when TPing from a saved landmark in your inventory is to, instead of right clicking and choosing teleport (or double clicking) is to right click and choose "about landmark"..........that opens the landmark information box. TP from there. It's a little more involved but it saves clearing the beacon once you've arrived at the destination.
