A couple of months ago, my sim Desperation Isle started crashing once every couple of days. I was never able to locate any collision issues. I worked on reducing unnecessary scripts, and eventually turned build off because I was wondering whether someone was intentionally crashing the sim- a friend of mine has been harrassed by people doing just that for months. This did actually seem to improve things for a while, even though I HATE having build off. I really prefer autoreturn over no-build.
Anyway, ever since the last update that sim has crashed twice a day. Build is still off and the collisions detector sort of randomly indicates things are colliding. Sometimes an avatar, sometimes a door, sometimes an 'Object.' But tracking these things down has never brought me to a physics-enabled object.
There are a lot of scripts running in the sim- between 6500-7500 depending on how many avatars are there. Despite this and the fact that it's among the last of the Class 4 servers deployed on the grid, dilation is almost always 0.99-1.0 and sim FPS is almost always 44-45 FPS. There are about 13500 prims in the sim, around 750 active. Script performance runs between 12000-28000 IPS.
What in the hell could be causing my sim to crash, considering build is off and there don't appear to be any physics problems? And yes, it really does seem to have gotten worse since the update. The crashes seem to occur between 11:30pm and 2:30am (I have an uptime monitor that IMs me when the sim restarts).

that is a lot of scripts I would say that's the cause. You probably need to restart it ever 12 hours or something to prevent that especially a class 4.

If you haven't done an intentional restart, I would start there. I've had a couple of instances where a sim would crash and restore without cause semi-regularly and doing an intentional restart seemed to fix the issues. On the other hand, if that doesn't help, the crashes are also apparently happening when no one of authority is around to watch what is going on so you might have some help in them crashing you're not aware of. You might plan a couple of sleepless nights if you can work that in your schedule to keep an eye on the sim and see if anyone is coming along to play with things that would help it along the route to crashing.
As for the sheer volume of scripts, Pando is a *mainland* sim, class four with 6600+ showing currently, more when plenty of avatars are around and it doesn't crash with any regularity. Any number of the Caledon sims (I'm an EM there) have that range of scripts and don't crash daily/nightly, so while some combination of scripts might be the cause, I don't think the sheer volume is in itself. YMMV. Char
