*chews lip* Right, looks like you are using the First Look client.. I hope. Have you got the regular client and does it run well?

This is rather out of my depth, I admit. The only thing I can think of trying it have you completely uninstall Second Life (all copies of Second Life, their folders, etc) and download the installers again and reinstall them.

Also, try posting in the technical issues forum further down the list. There are some wonderful, helpful and more technical minded people!

Just so we can immediately rule it out as an issue, what IS your hardware? At least, the cpu, ram, videocard, and type of internet connection.

If it is an older computer, you might also want to make sure you have updated drivers.

P4 3ghz with hyperthreading (I think that is the name, it is that thing that makes software thinks there are two processors), 512mb of ram, nvidia GeForce 7300 GT and the isp calls the connection we have here 4Mps but I seriouslly doubt it gets even close to that usually, it is adsl, and goes thru a lan router before hitting the modem

I said I was pretty sure it was good enough cause before this problem started to happen I logged on SL dailly

btw, is there some mod I could ask to move this thread to the right place?

The computer specs look fine ($25 for another 512MB of ram would be a great investment, but likely not the issue here). It's probably a network issue of some sort, and may even be an ISP issue rather than something on your end. I've personally been getting "mangled network data" crashes a lot, and have been told that's probably some issue taking place between my house, and the SL servers. Bad internet traffic or something.

I'd probably just report over in the Tech section, rather than wait for a mod to move it -- I am not sure they read every post. You might sit here for days and even then not get it moved. I did a forum search for one of the error lines ( "Someone took over my exception handler";), and there are several people with similar crash reports, nothing clear cut and dried as to cause. Google mostly pointed to foreign language based forums and I couldn't follow those at all.

I am not sure if search links work beyound the initial search, so if this link doesn't work, try a manual search:

/invalid_link.html

Mostly it will keep you busy reading I guess till someone has an idea that works for you. As I said, I didn't spot any easy solutions in the threads I glanced through. I'm sorry =(

If it is a network issue somewhere between you and the SL servers, try logging on to an SF hosted sim (as opposed to the Texas one you're logging on to).

Click Preferences - under General, check "Show Start Location"... then under your name you can type in a sim name to connect to directly, try: Hahne

thnx for the suggestion, but unfortunatly that didn't seem to change anythign either :/

anyway, I've created a thread on the suggest forum section /111/30/199224/1.html#post1595412
please start posting there instead of here so there won't be a plit in the forces :)
