Looking for basic Web-based tutorials

I'm fairly new to SL and I've had a lot of fun and learned a lot of things from the in-world tutorials and many friendly, helpful residents.

However, there are times when it's not convenient for me to log in to SL, but I want to learn about things.

Are there any tutorials, guides, glossaries that I can access with my Web browser?

I'm talking about very basic questions, such as --

- What do all the different icons mean in my inventory?

- I was given something with a dancing guy icon that looks like an action I can take. How do I use it?

- How do I go about buying or renting land and setting up a very basic residence?

- If I remove someone from my friends list, does that also remove me from theirs?

I don't want to bother individuals with questions like these, so I was wondering if something like this has already been written up.

Thanks!

If you don't mind a little messiness, I think you've already found the single greatest repository of SL wisdom and knowledge already - these forums. I haven't found any other information source that even comes close. (btw: that is one of the most intimidating first names i've seen)

Okay, I'll start posting my silly questions here. I hope I don't annoy people with my stupidity.

When I first started I loved Torley's Video tutorials

https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials

I learned not only what he was teaching, but also how to use the menus and, basically, how things worked by watching what buttons he pressed and where he found them. Also, it was nice to watch and listen rather than read everything (which can get very confusing very quickly because EVERYTHING is so new).

Welcome and Good Luck!!

I agree. Many people don't like to take the time to read the Knowledge Base, but it REALLY is worth it.

When you are new, browse through it and skim the articles just to get a feel for what's in it and what are some potential SL problems.

When you are older, use the search feature to find answers to specific questions. I recommend just searching a single word or two and then browsing the results -- if you enter your whole question, it probably won't exactly match anything and you'll get no results.
