Hi! I recently purchased a brand new graphics card, the ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB, my old graphics card wouldn't run Vista, that's how know I needed to upgrade. Second Life would run on full graphics on Windows XP, with my new graphics card installed, without any problems at all. Now I've installed Vista, when I go into Second Life, I get extreme graphics lag, even when all the settings are on low. Updated all the drivers for my card, hmm - what's the problem please?

Be sure to read through the Vista stickied thread at the top of the forum here, I found it helpful when I gave in and let hubby install Vista on my machines.

I needed 2 Gig of RAM to run SL w/ Vista. I started with 1 and it just wasn't enough to handle the graphics. With 2 it runs great. Good Luck!

I was having major lag skittish cant even move without getting frustrating and logging out issues until I went in and killed anything that didnt need to be running on my machine while in SL. Even have a lil program to 'kill all' in dos so I dont have to do it one at a time. Ima lazy computer geek, I admit it. Make sure to run any spywear scans, shut down anything you dont need running, etc, and that might also help. I know it may not have been an issue before, but I didnt have the issue before I had Vista either. I cant wait for a real Vista friendly release.

I'm going to install Windows XP back again this or next week, don't really like Vista too. Thanks!

Thanks! You could try installing XP in a virtual machine dual-boot perhaps on a partitioned drive. That may help perhaps if it is not a gfx card issue. http://lifehacker.com/software/top/windows-vista-beta-how-to-dual-boot-windows-xp-and-windows-vista-179906.php
