Are teir fees paid in advance?

I received a message (IM to email) that I had been billed and the fee had been taken but cannot confirm from the transaction history or anywhere else. I can only confirm this in another month when I get my bank statement

I was under the impression that tier was paid on peak usage AFTER a month at the end of the billing cycle.

Ive had land for two days and I think I had to pay the tier.

Is this correct?

If your paying tier on a Private sim, you may have to pay tier in advance, that woiuld be in the covenants most likely. If your paying tier on mainland they have cycle they run on, and you may have been just unlucky enough to buy at the near end of that cycle

I am on mainland and if the cycle runs like that, well that just sucks cause I have to pay in aussie dollars and its more than 25, more like 35, that sucks.

If you go to https://secondlife.com/account/ , you can see when your billing date is. It is best to upgrade the land holdings the day after the date listed to get the most for you money. It sounds like you got your extra land a few days before your next bill date. I know how much it sucks, once I had to pay for extra land that I had owned for less then a hour.

Yep, I wish I had have known that before, It would catch a lot of people out because it is unclear and certainly not obvious. And IT SUCKS!

The land use fees page clearly states in the first sentence...


"The Land Use Fee is a monthly charge for the peak amount of land held during the previous 30 days, including actual parcels held and land tier donated to groups."

You simply didnt read it, and assumed incorrectly.

Tier is paid in arrears. However there is only one tier date for all land held by your account - so yes, if you buy more land the day before tier is due, you'll pay the tier on it immediately.
