Group deeded objects and return/ delete rights

KO here it is in a nutshell.

Group setting are such that group members can move/copy/modify group owned objects.
Group members can deed objects to the group.
Group members may NOT return or set for sale group deeded objects.
Group members may return non-group objects.

This allows my tenants to move radios, TVs and security orbs after deeding them.

I was under the understanding that as such a group member could move the TV around but not pick it up or delete it unless they are the person who deeded it.
If a deeded object was deleted by someone other than the person who deeded it it was actually returned and not deleted.

Suddenly I am seeing a small rash of peoples TV's and radios vanishing from parcels. With over 400 tenants this is a concern and I'd like to figure out what's going on before it goes past the small number of reports I've had in the last 2 days.

So if a group member deeds a TV, and another group member deletes it, does it go back to the person who deeded it or does it go poof?

My understanding is if you delete a group-owned item, it goes poof.

I am certain though that the system does not track who deeded an object to the group - once it is deeded their 'claim' to the object ends and there is no further connection to where the object came from. So it would be impossible for the system to know who to send the object back to when it is deleted or returned.

First of all, delete means gone, permanently. Delete does not RETURN objects to the owner, that would be, well return.

Possible scenario:

Tenant A has a radio or TV. Does not set "restrict sound to parcel". Tenant B keeps hearing Tenant A's radio or TV. Tenant B deletes radio or TV, as the only way to shut it up!!

Just a thought :)

Even if they can "delete" Group Owned objects that are deleted only go "poof" if they are Copy. NoCopy items are returned to the original owner.

With the settings you describe, more likely someone is jsut playing the nutshell game with the items. Use wireframe (ctrl+shift+R) and look underground, or look up to the 768m mark. Most common place to hide stuff.

Though,if you're on the mainland and next to land with auto-return, they could be moving onto it and if the items are Copy, they'd be deleted after the timeframe.

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

This what I thought as well. Allthough all the previous posters seem to disagree with us =)
This is also the answer I want to believe but I guess I should err on the side of caution and remove the Modify/Move/Edit perms from the groups for now.

I had also "assumed" that someone was moving them and moved them out of range, but since I have had 5 reports in 2 days where I've had nothing like this happen in 6 months I wanted to do some research.

As most radios and TVs that have transfer rights are no copy I figured they would actually be returned to the deeding avatar.

And I know for a FACT the system tracks who deeded an object to the group. I have returned several group deeded objects and they always go back to the person who deeded them.

Update

After extensive testing I have discovered that with the group powers set so that people in the group can Move/Copy/Modify group shared items, they can in fact delete group shared items.

In fact any group member can "Take" any object simply set to share with group. It doesn't even have to be deeded.

So Move/Copy/Modify doesn't mean that. It means Move/Copy/Modify/Delete and Take.

So check your groups! Uncheck the Move/Copy/Modify power from anyone you don't trust completely! I did =) Thx for the responses gang =)

I may go start a Jira proposal for a change in group powers. I think group members should be allowed to move and modify group objects, Copy, delete and Take should not be included in this.
