I'm happily puttering away on my wee 512 lot and now when I look at the land information it says I've got 56 objects. I'm halfway to my limit already, but I can only account for about 30 of those to the best of my knowledge. Is there a way to "clean up" excess (buried? hidden?) objects without throwing everything I've made back into inventory and then having to pull it out and try to get it back in the right place?

Hello Bodhisatva,

You try this:
About Land -> Objects -> Show (this will highlight all the objects on the land). Then you can select the objects you don't want on the land and take or delete them.

Or...with the Edit Menu open, and the Position option checked, drag and click an area. Make sure you have "select my objects only" selected under the tools menu so you will not select any objects that do not belong to you.

Best,

You can remove land with the debug menu settings (contrl-alt-D for debug then Client - rendering - type - surface patch if my memory is correct). Remember, though, that OBJECTS are not, say, a lamp. That lamp might be comprised of 10 prim objects by itself.

don't forget to check up in the air too. Vehicles and other bjects often get stranded at heights that are impossible to notice from the ground. A 512 plot is pretty easy to sweep vertically - create a box in the corner of your land, sit on it, and then change its z axis position in, say, 50m intervals. Alt-click your seat and sweep the camera across your land at various heights, then move the box up and sweep again. You'll notice anything that doesn't belong.

"Objects" is different from "prims." An object can have 1-iforgethowmany prims in it.

When a size 512 says it can have 117 prims on it (is it 117?) it means 117 prims, not complete objects. So if you are looking at and counting things like - 1 chair, 1 table - it's not two prims but more probably 6 or more.

That may not be what you are doing, but I throw that out there for anyone who may be counting that way.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Very useful! One culprit was what I thought was a fairly simple chair--it had eleven prims. Surprisingly, and I may still be wrong here, a fern and some trees appeared to count as only one.

I'm hoping as I learn more about building that I'll be able to get some effects with fewer prims.

Thanks again!

Some foliage dates back to much earlier SL days and are thus one prim.
I had a rather nice fireplace .. until I discovered it was taking up 56 prims!!
A friend had a pool that hogs the whole 117!!
