Hey there,
I'm pretty new to SL and I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to put this.. but I don't know where else (apologies if it's in the wrong place)
Anyway, I picked up some free gestures from somewhere and activated the whole lot of them.. logged off and now I can't find them again.. problem that I'm having is the trigger words are annoying me because now if I type certain things they go off and take that word out of my sentence.
I also can no longer use /me - instead it does /MAD
I don't really know what to do to disable them as I can't find them in my inventory now.. but they're still there somehow. When I went to see if I could change the trigger words for them, the box came up and the whole list just said: Loading.. and nothing further happened.
I hope I explained that well enough.. but please help, it's driving me insane.

they should have all gone into a folder called gestures its a default folder
most if modable can have the trigger word or action changed to what you prefer

They're not in the gesture folder and I searched all the other folders, even ones I was sure that it wouldn't be in and found nothing. I can see them and they work, but I can't find them in my inventory and when I go to modify them.. it just comes up as "Loading.." and it stays stuck on that, so I can't even get in to change the trigger words.

Try searching for (active). That should show all your active gestures i think. If this doesnt work, use the filter to show only gestures in your inventory. Then they should be easier to find.

it's defaulting to /mad because "a" comes before "e." If you deactivate /mad, it will likely default to /me again. But you can still use /me.

I tried everything suggested and still no joy.. they don't appear anywhere in my inventory.. yet they are on the gesture list to the right.
What do I do now?

Only gestures in your inventory or in library can be active. So they are there somewhere. Maybe you just dont know the right names? A gesture that is triggered by /mad isnt normally named this ... it could be named something like tantrum or trowing a fit or angry or upset or even mad without the /. I suggest you again search for active and then open all the active gestures. When you have them open you can see the trigger.

I searched for the active ones and only a few came up.. but they're not the ones that I want to disable.
Any other suggestions or do I need to get the same lot of gestures again and then activate them and deactivate them and hope that fixes it?

I dont know why you dont get them up, it shouldnt be like that.
Are you looking both in inventory and in library?
And you have opened the active ones to see their trigger?
You said they were free, maybe you should just deactivate all the active ones and get a new set? Take them out one by one from the box and change the triggers as you take them to inventory and activate them.

Do control-G to get the gesture pane, which gives the name so you can search for it in inventory if you like but more importantly the ability to set the gesture inactive.

Are you using Vista? What an interesting interface. Anyways...here comes a cliche answer...clear your cache and relog. When you return and your inventory downloads again, they may appear. Go somewhere with minimal lag. Do you recall their exact names? Use the search feature to find them if they still do not appear in the default gestures folder. There were numerous problems last night. Wednesday was the update day which is known for horrid performance including asset server insanity.
Login screen > Preferences > Network Tab > Clear Cache

Thanks, I'll give that a go and see what happens.. and yeah I'm using Vista. lol.
Edited:
Okay, just tried that and it didn't work. Even filtered them to gestures and still nothing.. went through every folder and they've completely left my inventory. Still see them in my gesture thingy like I showed and also in the bottom right hand corner when I click the gesture menu, they appear there too.. there are absolutely loads of them and I can't deactivate any of them. I really don't know what to do now.

The "loading..." thing is listed under known issues: http://secure-web7.secondlife.com/support/known-issues.phpEntry "SL-11589: deleted gestures still work" says: Steps to reproduce the bug: - Multi-select 4 or so activated gestures in your inventory, right click > Delete - Empty your trash - Open your Gestures window * Observe: Gestures will not deactivate and will be stuck as 'Loading...' in the gestures list and cannot be edited or removed easily and will still function as if not erased at all. (They will still be there after you delete your cache and relog.) * Expected results: Gestures to be deactivated upon delete or otherwise prevented from being moved to the trash while active. *Workaround: Right-click > Deactivate a Gesture in your Inventory before deleting it. * Workaround (for broken "deleted" gestures): Create a new gesture. Open the Gestures window, sort by trigger for ease and edit the new gesture. Enter a name of a glitched trigger in the trigger box of the new gesture and save, it will replace it. Enter another name and save and it will also remove it. You can clean your list this way with some patience and then the new gesture can be deactivated and erased safely.

It took me a long time to do it, but it worked.. problem solved! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. You have no idea how annoying this was for me considering I had so many broken gestures.. and they were easily triggerable by typing words such as 'back' - 'habit' etc.. the back one was the worst and also trying to type /me would go to /MAD and that'd cause all kinds of confusion. Thanks again!!
