how to make a suit

i would like to build a brown suit and tried to create one but doesnt look exactly like one.
help?

Hi Peters, always a good way to learn is to have a target, an ambition. I'm assuming you've started off with a default shirt/trousers from the create option in edit appearance?
For anything other than plain colour you're going to need textures. Not just for any weave pattern for example but also to simulate lapels, pockets etc.
Browse through some of the many freebie clothing. You'll find some throughout your Library folder in Inventory. This should demonstrate textures to you.
If you explore some of the freebie stores you might well find a tintable jacket and trousers which you can simply adjust the colour.

You may want to cruise down to the Design and Textures forum under Content Creation. There are many stickies and thread discussions about creating clothing for SL. Many excellent designers and graphics program gurus offer instructions, tutorials, and basic How-To info in that forum.

You just may find that little pearl of wisdom that will end your troubles.
