Anyone totally black in game now?

My friend is totally black to himself and to others after just logging on. He tried all the usual things that we all try when we have missing images, but nothing has worked. Has anyone else just experienced this and found a way to fix it?

Did he recently buy a new skin, or started wearing a skin that he bought but has never worn? If so he'll need to contact the creator for a replacement.

This isn't a definite how to fix (and won't do much good without the replacement) and there are probably a few redundant steps in it, but it's what worked for me :).
  1. Switch to the default linden skin
  2. Rebake textures (Ctrl+Alt+D for the Debug menus, then under Client / Character / Rebake Textures) + Edit appearance
  3. Clear Cache (Edit / Preferences / Network tab)
  4. Close SL
  5. Log on
  6. Change to a skin he knows is definitely good (never had problems with)
  7. Rebake textures + Edit appearance
