Logo proposal from Lika Goodliffe and call for more submissions

Lika Goodliffe has kindly designed a logo for us and has submitted it as a proposal for us to consider. We are looking for other submissions and we will then vote once it seems all the proposals have been received.



To save my limited bandwidth I have uploaded a low quality 20k JPGs of the proposed logos. So don't judge the logo on its quality but its design. High quality transparent background images are available but not shown here.

Of the two, the silver is the one I like better... maybe less lashes would be better, look more professional, but that is a personal preferance.

As a follow-up, someone mentioned on the inworld group chat that this seal resembled the official SL logo. Honestly, I always thought that was a "hand" symbolizing creativity. But a closer look and it does look like an eye. It would be my guess that it's actually both and possibly meaning hand/eye coordination. Pfft: as you can tell I haven't really done my research on the SL official logo, lol.

I don't really see that the "watchdog" logo/seal that I designed has that much of a resemblance. In any case its meaning is totally different.

It's funny really. The way I came up with this was when I was driving through my neighborhood and saw our local neighborhood crime watch sign. I thought omg....this is exactly what the Sellers Guild needs…duh! (LOL)

Originally the idea for was not really intended for a "Logo" but more of a seal/emblem/shield for our shops... to deter those who come lurking to steal our creations and of course to provide info to those who might support our efforts. However, I guess it’s really one in the same and would serve as a logo too.

I wouldn't have normally posted a comment on my own design but at the same time I felt compelled to give more detail behind the design and its meaning. I wouldn't want anyone to think I was trying to copy or resemble another. After all that's the very thing we're trying to fight against.

I'm also up for other design submissions and would like to see what other ideas for a logo/seal might be out there. So please bring them on and as was suggested by Psyke we'll vote on the one we think is the best design and fit for the guild.

I like it. Round logos/brands feel always OK to me.. silver or gold or other colurs are a later decision...


I try to write my ideas - feelings...

1 - This must be used in SL and used in small small small version to?.. .OF course it must! Then things need to be larger.. from start.

2 - Then take away the outer ring - its not needed and ”we” need that space to make it as big as possible in SL

3 - Make the texts (words) a lot bigger inside the cirkle.. you can take away one or two ”eyes” inside to cirkle to maximise the texts..

4 - Al this to make it possible to ”see” AND READ it when its small in SL..

5 - Make the inner eye larger at the shield and let the lines on top and bottom of it be in size as they are..

This is very nice, and thank you for doing that .. but let's not get too side tracked.

I think the logo idea is great. It won't stop someone from stealing, but maybe at least someone that is thinking about doing it may change their mind.

I am going to close the call for logo nominations in 2 days. Speak up now if u r working on one.

I think Lika did an outstanding job. I move we accept the design and adopt it.

Since there has only been 1 proposal for the logo (the silver one is for dark backgrounds and the dark one is for light backgrounds) then this logo wins by default. Congrats Lika and thank you. Feel free to make it available to all members who wish to use it.

I think we need a better way of communicating... not everyone reads the forums, heck I am a frequent reader and I just found out we had a forum =/

Which is better forums or all of this text inside the group in SL? Is that spamming? Is it practical to logon and see all these messages have overflowed your SL saved messages? Or do we send them to Online people only, giving you no chance of ever seeing them ever?

Also numerous announcements were made inside SL in the group including "proposals" pointing people the the forum.

Frankly, when I joined the SG I expected the usual group spam I get from other groups I've belonged to, but it hasn't been the case at all. In the vast majority of cases, the discussion has involved news or a question that everyone was interested in. This may be the first SL group I've belonged to where I actually get something out of the messages

That said, I agree that this board isn't immediately obvious to members, especially new ones. But as long as the URL is included in group proposition votes, there should be no real reason to not become aware of this board. I'm thinking I should keep this URL on a notecard to point other members if they ask.

And good job, Lika! I'm going to make the silver one into a sign for my stores - if anyone would like a prim with the texture work & alpha already done just IM me and I'll give you one with full perms.

Interesting... so you mean since the group is open enrollment and this logo is full perms... we will be sharing it with thieves? no thanks...

Not my intention at all, Sensual. I simply want to be able to copy it because I have more than one store. I think most members have more than one store, don't they?

I used the link to the low-rez jpg version to create a temporary version for now and put it in my stores. And if I can do it, anyone can. It looks ok, but I'd like to have a high-rez version instead.
