Do you think our current policy of ejecting/banning non-hosts who talk on the main group without permission is too harsh, not strict enough or just right?

Do you think our current policy of ejecting/banning non-hosts who talk on the main group without permission is too harsh, not strict enough or just right? And do unauthorized folks who post to the main group get a warning before being banned? Some new folks may get an announcement of an event and respond with an innocent question, forgetting (or not knowing) that they are not supposed to post to the main group. ~ Frank ~ _____________________

Don't the group permissions allow the owner to set which class of member can/can't send IMs to the whole group? SL doesn't support limiting who can send IMs to a group right now. I and many others have been campaigning for this for a long time, but the SL coders have run into technical problems getting it done, so it might be awhile yet. So we can't limit it atm - but we will the second we can. And do unauthorized folks who post to the main group get a warning before being banned? I personally give warnings, some other admins don't. The admins who don't take extra care to put "DO NOT RESPOND IN THIS WINDOW" in all the announcements, so there is little excuse for people who do. _____________________

Not doing so may give some slack to the people who can't read, but they do it at the expense of *everybody* else in the group, which is not fair. I'm not a member of any groups but my own land groups, and *the* reason for that is that I absolutely hate getting spammed all the time by announcments and worse, by the people who yack on and on afterwards. So yeah, kick them, kick them hard, kick them in the ass and wear pointy toed shoes when you do it. ![]() |
