Welcome to The Ethics Group Forums, everyone!

We now have forums at our disposal to discuss everything ethically related! These forums are open to all, not just Ethics Group members, who wish to discuss the Talking Ethics events, or anything regarding The Ethics Group itself, or any other ethics-related topics in general.

Have an ethical dilemma, real or hypothetical, that you'd like some feedback on? Intrigued by an ethical matter? Post a new thread to get feedback here in the forums or post in the Suggestions for Talking Ethics thread, and we might discuss it at an in-world event. Please keep in mind that if you do post a dilemma, please don't post names or personal information regarding anyone else in SL.

Let's Talk Ethics! Cheers everyone!

About Talking Ethics
02-25-2007 20:59
Talking Ethics is an ongoing discussion series about ethics, where we discuss ethical issues in general as well as in specific situations. The dilemmas often involve Second Life situations that could be applied to the real world, so that we can talk about whether ethical implications differ between the two worlds.

We usually meet at Villa Bilbao Art Gallery in-world at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Zeuzera/104/177/114/
To enter the building, please click the white cylindrical airlock door ahead of you when you land. The door is camouflaged and blends in seamlessly with the gallery architecture so there is an arrow on the ground to point the way. Walk to the cylinder where the arrow is pointing and then click it as needed to rotate it open or closed.

When I introduce a topic, I try to host it at least three times throughout the SL day to catch different time zones, around 1 PM, 4 PM and 7 PM PST. Discussions are most typically scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, although they could happen any day that's available, and often at other times too (sometimes around 10 AM PST). People are free to come to any or all of the discussions that repeat the same topic. Every discussion is different, depending on who shows up and participates, but the presented dilemmas will be the same for that week.

The best way to find out about ethics discussions it to join The Ethics Group! To do that, click the SEARCH button in-world -> GROUPS tab -> Search for "The Ethics Group" -> click on The Ethics Group -> and click JOIN. If you're online, you'll hear announcements for any ethics discussions before they begin, and when and where they'll take place.

New schedule for ethics
04-11-2007 23:03
Talking Ethics has changed schedules. Instead of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, we're now aiming for the following days and times:

Mondays at 4-6 PM SLT
Wednesdays at 7-9 PM SLT
Fridays at 12-2 PM SLT

Please check the Events Calendar for any scheduling irregularities for specific events. As well, I'll try to keep the forums updated as each week's seminar is scheduled.

As usual, the seminar topic is repeated throughout the week at different times, but you're free to come to as many as you like since every event is a bit different.

Variable Schedule
05-25-2007 14:08
Just to be clear, The Ethics Group is open and free to join for everyone. It's mainly a way for those who are interested in the ethics discussions to be kept informed of events. Being a member of the group does not imply that you subscribe to any beliefs in particular.

The Talking Ethics Seminars are changing in schedule. We still have the same Friday slot, but I'm trying something different for the other time.

Wednesday at 6 PM - 8 PM SLT (this may change, depending)
Friday at 12 - 2 PM SLT
