My recent, casual searches for items such as common handtools, animated vermin, and Victorian impedimentia* has been subcessful**. I was hoping that community members might be able to provide references to reputable firms or persons capable of creating them.. As part of the development of Sender's End, a seedy commercial district located near the shipyard in Port Caledon, I would like to purchase or comission the creation of mundane items such as period handtools (wheelbarrows, shovels, construction items, bricklayer's tools, vendor's carts, glass-front display cases for stores, ), sounds associated with street life in a Victorian port city, gas-street lamps (must flicker, activate via sensor), animated vermin such as rats and mice. I would also be happy to collaborate with someone to create said items. In addition to monetary payment, I will also provide a small shop wherein these items might be sold to the general public, for the rental fee of L$1/week. On a related note, but not specifically related to veoVictoriana, I'd like to find someone capable of rendering my mundane form/appearance as a SecondLife avatar, and would appreciate recommendations or references. -CoyoteAngel (aka Lynne) http://www.lynnewu.com *A term coined by a friend to describe "all the crap you have lying around your house" that impedes one's progress within one's environment. **Sub-successful

Hello I have the start of my "arc lamp" in my shop in Port Caledon, and while this not a gas lamp, this lighting source was extensively used from 1870's in factories, parks, streets, and department stores. Take a look and if you'd like to use something along those lines, I can dress it up into a decorative street light. Serra

I would highly recommend a visit to the Gestalt this'n that market, in the sim Yamato. A wealth of historic items is to be found there - from furniture and decorative knicknacks to faboulous animated items such as a scrub bucket and a laundry bucket with avatar animation, and even a desk with writing, pondering and sanding animation. The market itself is a pleasure to visit, one will not find the usual sterile mall setup but instead a labyrinth of bazaar tents. So far I have been highly satisfied with all purchases; the items are all made with great attention to detail.
As for animated vermin: the most difficult part would likely be the scripting of random paths, as there does not seem to be an easy way to sensor walls in LSL. So far all the animated animals I have seen were for use in outdoor setting. A combination of pre-determined pathways and some random choosing between those should be possible, though I don't know if this would be sufficient to give a lifelike behavior.

These is such an air of classy charisma here--think I'll stay awhile to be positively influenced by such good manners. Of course, if that's alright with you Ladies of Caledon.

From: Torley Linden These is such an air of classy charisma here--think I'll stay awhile to be positively influenced by such good manners. Of course, if that's alright with you Ladies of Caledon. You are most welcome, Ms. Linden. (note that we ladies of proper upbringing will never call another person by his or her fist name unless we are better acquinted with each other ^_~) And you are most welcome to stay as long as you wish. The ladies and I don't mind at all, and I'm sure anyone who says other wise can be reasoned with. I for one am looking for Victorian medical tools. I've found some at the port--I forget the name of the dear lady who owns the shop but I'm also looking for other options. Once I've found a good land, I might open a small clinic. Of course, I will have to hire doctors and nurses and such...

Thank you for the recommendation of the Gestalt market. There are certainly many items there that fall into the category of mundane tools, especially the Empire writing desk+animations.

I could not resist the Empire writing desk! Although I keep meaning to email the designer about the glitch in the "sand" animation. Regardless, I do not regret that purchase at all. It's a perfect place to sit while I'm editing portraits outside of SL. I recall a certain trip to Gestalt with Jackal where we churned butter, scrubbed floors and washed laundry by hand. I was so glad none of the gents could see us just then! And Ms. Linden, we're honored with your presence and interest. Thanks for the compliment of your continued membership!
