In celebration of Second Life's 3rd birthday, Caledon will be hosting a Victorian Ice Cream Social!
I have been told by the grid wide planning committee that the theme this year will be "Hooray for diversity" and "Looking towards the future".
Saturday June 24th at 4pm SL time we will open up Caledon to guests, inviting them to visit and see how we celebrate our own brand of diversity and what our vision for the future of the Victorians could have been.
I ask that every citizen of Caledon plan to attend this event, as it will be heavily promoted and, and we could quite possibly see many more visitors than I personally have ever seen in Caledon. I hope to create an event that promotes the wonderful land we share and the society we are cultivating.
I am looking for volunteers to help with getting the invitations out, tours, set up, entertainment, role playing, crowd control, and plain old good cheer. And if you do not feel comfortable taking on an official role in the events, I would love to see all your shining faces!
Events 4pm through 7pm SLtime:
Cake building contest:
Open to Caledon residents only Size no bigger than 5x5 meters. Entries are due to me by 4am Friday June 23rd Theme: See above SL theme Shop sponsored cakes will be allowed, signage can be no bigger than 2x2m
I would love to see some wild cakes, think out side the normal, think outside layers and frosting. Anyone for a steam powered cake? Be creative!
Prizes are as follows:
First place 1000L Second place 500L Third place 250L
Picnic:
Entries for the contest will be on display, the winners will be announced at 4pm Fishing along the shore
Dancing in the pavilion Food and drinks will be provided This will be the perfect time to meet your neighbors if you have not yet. Tours of Caledon for the guests by foot, Trolley, and Dirigible. Victorian Role playing is highly encouraged
Fireworks:
Fireworks will signal the end of the event at 7pm SLtime.
I hope that everyone will have a chance to stop by and celebrate Second Life's 3rd birthday in the Victorian style we all have grown to love!
Thank you for your consideration! Miss Serra

Fabulous idea! I'd like to suggest a different prize instead of cash for the prizes. Why don't some of the content creators donate some of their items as prizes? I'm willing to donate some of my clothes as prizes. They're all transferable anyway.

From: Yuriko Muromachi Fabulous idea! I'd like to suggest a different prize instead of cash for the prizes. Why don't some of the content creators donate some of their items as prizes? I'm willing to donate some of my clothes as prizes. They're all transferable anyway. I'd love that, the reason I didn't do that is that I didn't think anyone would be interested in donating items... and *humbled* I didn't think I'd have time to contact anyone to ask. RL is a bit hectic right now, and I am behind schedule as is. I am starting to slant this event to be hosted by the Ladies Society, even if I am the only one available to run it. I'd love for this kind of event to become one of the groups functions. And even start up a rivalry (friendly competition type rivalry) with another Caledon group (none in mind at this time) were we take turns trying to one up each other with events. I believe this will truly be a boon for Caledon. Top notch events and spirited competition between some groups can only press Caledon forward. okay I am off topic *laughs* Ms Muromachi, I accept your offer and thank you greatly! If there are any other ladies reading this and are interested in offering up a prize for this contest, please feel free to IM me in world (even if i am off line I get them and will respond) or in the forums PM. Thank you kindly, Miss Serra

I would be pleased to offer up some of my furniture and vehicles as prizes. I'd also like to volunteer to help out with tours, role playing and/or entertainment, and of course you're more than welcome to use the Observatory or the Ruins if you need extra event space.
Hmm... cakes... time to start thinking of confectionary contraptions...

Hmm... cakes... time to start thinking of confectionary contraptions... Thank you Ms Takashi! I would be most pleased to have you help with the event, and quite honored to add one of your creations as one of the prizes. I will contact you tomorrow night, if you are available and in world. I will in world from 4pm to 8pm SL time, perhaps I will call an impromptu meeting to see if any of the online ladies are available to lend a hand. #1 on my list right now is how I should get the word out about the cake contest to all of Caledon. I might have the ability to send a Caledon wide message tonight, but I am not sure if that is the best way to get the word out. If any of you have any ideas, IM me ASAP. Thank you again Ms Takashi! Just point to me which gowns you'd like me to send as prizes. I'm willing to offer two of both men and women wear for the event. I would agree on the events group forming a little rivalry. I actually have a few more events in mind in the future (roleplay and otherwise). When RL isn't too hectic let's discuss it over tea some time.
