Ladies, Welcome to our shiny new group forum! I hope this will be a convenient addition to group communication aside from group chat. Please use it freely If you don't check the forums regularly, you can subscribe to this forum by using the "Forum Tools" -> "Subscribe to this forum" forum and be notified daily or weekly of new postings and discussions. And Thank You! to Torley Linden for providing us with a group forum

Just quick note: I've added the forum URL to our group charter and made a quick announcement in group chat just now.

Do you need to reside in Caledon to be a member?

From: Desmond Shang *stumbles upon this group forum* !!! *snaps a fan open to fan herself* Mr. Shang, please do close your mouth. It's not polite to gawk and stare with one's mouth hanging open. Besides, it attracts flies and other such flying vermin. I don't think you would want to swallow a moth or a fly, do you? *giggles* On a side note, just how many of the ladies visit the forum?

Hello Ms Muromachi! It’s been far too long!
I check this forum daily, and it has occurred to me frequently that a subsection of these forums might be a good idea.
I am thinking a "shopping" section, where ladies in the society could post their own new creations and even post about great shops they have found off the island. I was thinking that a subsection would save the main list of threads from being clogged with "advertisements".
I think it would be a great reference for some of us that don't get out of their homes much, let along off the island. (like me)

As far as I know, subsections are not possible for group forums - but maybe Miss Torley could enlighten us?
Anyway, I personally would welcome any post about new creations from our ladies, or new discoveries, and I was planning on including a "favorite shopping pick" or two in the newsletter. As long as the commercial posts don't completely take over this forums, I for one don't see a problem having all in one forum. If the commercially active ladies post their newest creations here, I could - with their permission - simply copy the posts into the group newsletter, which would surely reach a wider audience.

On the none commercial side, I might hold a small roleplaying event (after I finish the gown I'm making) with a limited participants. I'll be calling on residents who have experience in being a story oriented GM (game master). I'll probably post more about it soon.

I'm usually online, lounging idly in the garden lounge you gave listening to the burbling of the brook (and hearing the occassional swearing from a disgruntled fisherman), while sipping tea...and plotting. A sublet would be nice, but I think it would be better if we had more ladies visiting and participate in the forum first before. It gives certain justifications for possible requests in the future. Although an alternative is to create a separate forum of our own.

It gives certain justifications for possible requests in the future. Although an alternative is to create a separate forum of our own. I will mention the forum in the newsletter, to hopefully further the interest in this medium. I do not expect every lady to visit it though, since many do find forums to be quite a waste of time; but it is very convenient for conversation without the constraints of timezones. As a related subject, how is everyone's opinion on group chat? I have found the Ladies' Society group chat to be mostly unused, but I may just be online at the wrong times. I personally do not mind the more or less occasional group chat, but there are many who find this intrusive. Miss Loonie, welcome to the forum! The in-world group charter reads thus: "A Society of Victorian ladies, for edification and sharing of ideas. Ladies not affiliated with Caledon are welcome to apply for membership."

The forums are actually very useful, once you've gotten used to sorting through the rabble. I for one do enjoy visiting certain parts of the forum.
As for group chat, I don't normally mind group chats, but it can be intrusive. So it might also be a good idea to actually set guidelines on group chat. Things like no advertising through the group chat that is not related to Caledon and such. I mean, who would really enjoy hearing about another event someone's club in the wretched mainland or a tacky yardsale? I do would like to see group updates through the groups (using the Proposals section) regarding not just the activities of the Ladies Society but also news about Caledon in general. We all do live in the same community.

Sure, we can make it possible--historically, it'd be a FIRST for an SL group forum to have subforums! Just send a formal request to groups@secondlife.com with the titles and descriptions of the forums ye wisheth to have herein. My only hope is they get used well.
