Do you want to go to the First Annual Second Life Community Convention (SLCC), but don't have enough cash for the registration fees? Linden Lab is here to help you out! As the lead sponsor of the SLCC, a gathering of Second Life Residents and like-minded virtual world enthusiasts, we are pleased to offer three partial scholarships to the event.
Here’s your chance to win a $50 scholarship from Linden Lab, to be used towards the $95 registration fees for SLCC.
If you would like to have a shot at this scholarship and will be in the New York City area the weekend of October 8/9, please submit an email with a short blurb describing "Why I Want to Attend the First Annual Second Life Community Convention" in 250 words or less to [email]jeska@lindenlab.com[/email]
Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and clarity. Deadline for entry is Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at 10am PST, see rules below for more information.
Official Rules
3 Grand Prizes: $50 USD Scholarship for use in the Second Life Community Convention (SLCC), occurring Obtober
1. Winners will be allowed to register for the SLCC at $50 off the normal registration price. In addition to following the rules of the contest, competitors are required to follow the normal Second Life Terms of Service and Community Standards, which may be changed from time to time in Linden Lab's sole discretion.

3. No purchase is necessary to enter and win.
4. Winner does not need to be present to win.
5. Sweepstakes void where prohibited. Subject to all international, federal, state and local laws.
6. Must be 18 or older to participate in the SLCC Scholarship Essay Contest. Second Life membership is not required and your presence in-world is not required. Entries for those who cannot or do not want to participate in the stress test should be mailed to Linden Lab, ATTN: SLCC Scholarship Essay Contest Entry, 1100 Sansome St., San Francisco, CA 94111 and must arrive no later than Friday, Sept. 30, 2005.
8. Only one prize will be awarded for each winner. In other words, no winners will win more than one prize.
9. Prize descriptions: (3) Grand Prizes: $50 USD scholarship to be used for the SLCC registration fees. The prize cannot be redeemed for cash.
10. Prize distribution: Gift will be awarded by Linden Lab via email.
11. Promotion begins Monday, September 27, 2005 at3:00pm PST. Entries accepted until 09:00 AM PST, Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. Prizewinners will be selected from a random drawing to be held at Linden Lab's office on or before August 6, 2005.
12. Linden Lab assumes no responsibility for lost or misdirected electronic entry transmissions or invalid e-mail addresses or any tax liability.
14. By accepting the prize, winner recognizes that his or her name, voice and likeness may be requested by Linden Lab for promotional purposes. However, the Resident may refuse to provide any information protected by our Privacy Policy.
15. Linden Lab's board, officials, staff, management and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in the SLCC Scholarship Essay Contest. Any person associated with the production of this campaign and their immediate families are not eligible to participate in this contest. Any one organizing, speaking, or presenting at the SLCC
16. Taxes or any other incidental fees that may apply are not included. Linden Lab may report the value of the prizes to the IRS, in which case winners will receive IRS Form 1099 to assist in preparing tax returns.
17. Winner is solely responsible for all costs and expenses not specified herein as being awarded, including, but not limited to, transportation to and from NYC convention, lodging, meals, tips, hotel incidentals and additional ground transportation.
18. Linden Lab will notify winners by mail, in-world or e-mail of procedures for redeeming prize.
19. The prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be exchanged for cash. Winners who do not wish to accept the prize as offered may opt to forfeit the prize. There will be no substitutions. In the event the winner already purchased a ticket to the SLCC, their winnings may be applied to someone else’s registration.
