Some of you may have read Phillip's recent comments about "zoning", “covenants” and the overall empowerment of groups within Second Life. We are still very much in the research stage of these projects and would like to involve the Second Life community as much as possible during this all-important pre-design stage. As we have found that smaller, more focused meetings within Second Life to be far more productive, we are planning on holding several small group discussions on these important topics.

We will hold a series of small group discussions between January 23 and February 3. Given the ‘focus group’ style of these discussions there is a limit of 8 people per discussion group. If you are interested in attending one of these group discussions, please send a note to Jeska Linden (jeska@lindenlab.com - subject "Focus Groups";) with your Second Life name - before Sunday, January 22 at 6pm SLT. We will start with 5 group meetings (a limit of 40 people total) - if interest is higher, we may add more meetings. Interested Residents will be invited to the group “Second Life Groups Discussion” on a first come, first added basis. Once we have the groups set up, we will notify everyone as to the location and time of the events.

We have also set up this forum so the entire community can track each group's discussions and post their concerns/questions/etc. We will also post the meeting notes to this forum.

Also, to be clear, we're looking at covenants and group tools as separate, although interrelated issues, things - there are group tools and there are estate tools and there will (hopefully) be covenant tools.

Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in helping us in discussing the future of covenants, zoning & other group empowerment in Second Life. 35 people responded to the call to participate in the group meetings. Below are the times for the 4 Group Meetings, 8-9 people per group. The format of the meeting will involve Linden presentation and request for feedback and then each person in the group will have time to present their ideas and comments. Then there will be time for everyone to discuss things together.

We tried to accomodate your requested time slots, but if you have been assigned to a group meeting you are absolutely unable to attend, please let us know and we will work with you to figure out a better time. All times are listed as Second Life Time (PDT).

All meetings will be held at Brampton (112, 151) and you will need to belong to the "Focus Group: Covenants, Zoning & Groups" group, which you should have recieved an invitation. If you have not, please let Jeska Linden know.
