Corruption of information in your SL profile

Someone tickled a bug this morning that caused some information in everyone's SL profile to be the same.

We've found the bug and will try to include it in the 1.5.5 deployment.

As to repairing the damage, we have a backup from 3:00 AM Tuesday (or today, not sure yet) that we are going to use to restore the relevant fields in the active database. However, this is going to take some time (several hours) to do.

Unfortunately, the only option for you right now is to not bother fixing your profile. We're going to roll all of the affected fields back, and anyone who joined SL before the backup will have their information cleared.

Pulling the correct profile data backups is proceeding okay; the profile information is stashed somewhere in the middle of about 100GB of data, so it takes the restoration scripts a while to find it. Once we've got the correct profile data, I'll restore everyone's profiles to what they were as of about 3:00AM PDT 29 Sep 2004 (this morning).

Rating information has not been affected, and rating people today will continue to work. The specific fields that have been affected are your Second Life image, About, Skills, Want To, and your First Life image and About.

Liquid Zidane didn't do anything harmful or wrong; it wasn't his fault that his profile broke our dataserver. The bug itself was found and fixed in our CVS repository as of about noon today; the fix will be in 1.5.5 which is still going to be released tomorrow.

Profiles have been restored correctly. If something appears to be broken about your profile, please file a bug using the in-world bug reporting tool. Thanks!
