Last week we suffered a two-day period (from 12/29 wednesday PM through 12/31 friday PM) where very few people were able to log into Second Life, due to a failure in a database disk. We are going to issue a two day credit to all users who pay recurring fees (those with premium accounts and those who own land) to cover this period. The credit will be equal to 2 days of your estimated monthly fees, which is calculated as the sum of your monthly premium fee and your projected land tier fees on the amount of land that you own as of today. This credit will be deducted from your next recurring payment. Your specific credit can be viewed by visting your account section on the Second Life website.

Again, we apologize for the interruption last week. There are more upgrades underway to both hardware and software - as we continuously improve the reliability and performance of Second Life.

Just to clarify, the account credit includes but is not limited to Private Island owners. It doesn't include times when/if a particular Private Island was down outside of these two days.

Also, several users have asked about how annual accounts are being credited, so to clarify further, yearly accounts are also recieving the credit - it was computed by dividing the yearly fee by 12 months and then computing the amount per day, as was done for the other accounts.
