Here’s the plan. Linden wants you to entertain other residents by throwing parties based on some sort of game. In fact, we will provide prize money - and pay you for each resident who attends. The money details are still being worked out. You can also set up a voting station to increase your income.

Your job as organizer is to figure the time and place, get people to come by posting to the Forum and distributing Landmarks, and then host the event.

Contact Haney@lindenlab.com with your idea for a game party. Only a limited number of parties will be approved for payouts and people who respond first will be given priority. If the party is organized by a member of an official group of five or more, then we will pay you extra.

You are encouraged to think up your own ideas. Here are a couple of ours:

The “Newlymet Game”

This party game is loosely based on the old Newlywed TV show. Party-goers learn about each other and compete to answer questions about each other. This is the one party where you don’t want to show up fashionably late. Each guest must have information in their Profile to compete. Guests mingle for a half hour, examine each others profiles, and chat to find out about each other. Meanwhile, the host IM’s embarrassing questions to various guests. The host then asks five questions based on info gleaned from the Profiles. The first person (other than the subject of the question) to type the correct answer wins $50. Each partygoer can only make one guess. The host then asks five questions based on personal information gathered earlier. All question start, “Which of the guests….” The first person to guess correctly wins $100.

“Murder in the Dark”

As the party begins, everyone trades calling cards. The host selects someone to be the murderer and IM’s them. The guests mingle and chitchat. The host should encourage movement by all and can exclude any partygoer who is not mingling sufficiently. The murderer kills by sending an IM to a guest. The murder must be the avatar closest to the victim at the time of the IM. (It’s up to the host to confirm this.) The dying resident waits 10 seconds and slumps to the floor (sits) while they announce they are dead. Then everyone comes together and offers testimony about who might be the murderer. After awhile, the host calls for a vote. The person with the most votes must admit whether or not they are the murderer. If the accused is guilty, then the people who voted for them split the prize money – or what is left after the murderer takes $50 for each person they kill. If the accused is innocent then the game continues without the deceased.
