Hey, everyone. Here’s the scoop.

Shortly after Second Life 1.11.0.9 went live this morning we heard reports of problems in various features – everything from IM and email issues to scripts failing to textures not animating, and a significant number of simulator crashes.

We started investigating and discovered that most of these had a common cause – a back-end change in how script-generated e-mail was delivered changed the way that regions were saved and loaded - and unfortunately, there was an bug in this code. The result of this is that changes made after 1.11.0.9 came up were not saved correctly. As soon as we suspected that this was the case this we disabled logins so that residents would not lose any additional work.

To restore the grid to a fully functional state with all objects and scripts behaving in a sensible manner, it was necessary to restore the sim states to around 8:00 AM this morning (exact time varies per region). Inventories should not be affected by this.

We have fixed the issue and have tested the new code, and are planning to open the grid back up shortly. No new download will be required.

We sincerely apologize for the downtime.
