We are planning to shut down the Preview grid on Monday, September 26 at 12:00pm PT for an update. The main grid's database will be copied over the Preview database. This means that content on the main grid as of September 24th will now appear on the Preview grid in the regions that exist there. Additionally, users who were born as September 24th will now be able to log in to Preview -- that means over 6,000 new residents will gain access to Preview! Be aware that passwords for the Preview grid will be the same as your password on the main grid as of that date.
Because the database is being overwritten, all content on the Preview grid will cease to exist. If you have content on that grid that needs to be saved for some reason (for example, because it exhibits a bug that has been reported to Linden Lab and is pending investigation), it should be moved to Morris on the *PREVIEW GRID.* This can be accomplished by logging into the Preview grid, taking the item into your inventory, teleporting to Morris, and then rezzing the item onto the ground. We will save a snapshot of that simulator and install it after the main grid database has been copied over, thereby preserving the content.
***NOTE: All items in your inventory on the Preview grid will be lost, to be replaced by the inventory from your account on the main grid. Depositing items in Morris on the Preview grid will be the only way to preserve them. (Be sure that your items have sufficiently restrictive permissions before they are rezzed if you do not want them to be copied/modified/taken without your consent!)
The Preview grid will be operational again by 12pm PT Wednesday, September 28. If it is available again before that time, we will announce it here in the Linden Forums > Announcements area, so please check back for updates!
