We’re happy to announce that we are entering the next phase of the ResMod forum experiment! In collaboration with the first members of the ResMod team, we have gathered feedback and helped create an action plan for the continuing evolution of the group. We will continue to accept applications and add them on an ongoing basis (volunteer here ), please keep in mind that the number one goal of the ResMod program is to put residents in a leadership position where they can help define and shape a strong, positive forum community.

Please post any of your feedback here , as we hope to continue to refine and the process to best compliment the Second Life Community as a whole. To help with this, we will soon be holding an in-world discussion about how the ResMod program is going so far, please watch the Announcement Forums for more information.

Next Steps for ResMod Program

1. All current ResMods who have performed will have the option to stay on for 2 more weeks or leave – they will also have the option to either be placed back into the overall pool of ResMods for later rotation into the active pool or leave the program all together.

2. Today, LL will add approx. 5-6 new ResMods into the “training pool” – this will give them access to the ResMod forum, but not to the moderation tools for a week. During this week, they will be paired with another ResMod already in the pool for ramping up and training. (The newly accepted volunteers will be notified shortly!)

3. After the training week, the new ResMods will be put into rotation for 2 weeks, with full moderation tool access.

4. A week later, the older ResMods will rotate out (after a total of four weeks) for at least 2 weeks and later rotate back into the pool – during the initial ramp-up of the program, we may ask the original ResMods back into the pool sooner than 2 weeks!

5. In the future, ResMods may find themselves drawn to certain discussion subforums that they prefer for moderation during their time in the rotation pool. For example, if one ResMods prefers to moderate the Land and Economy forum, they will be able to spend most of their time moderating there. We will adapt the program as it grows to allow for this type of behavior.

6. During this entire process, ResMods will contribute to a “Best Practice” tips and tools thread in the ResMod forum in an effort to build up institutional knowledge for all volunteers. These practices will also be posted in the Volunteer Wiki (currently being developed by several Second Life Volunteers - in progress ), for viewing and feedback by the entire community. All of these Best Practices must follow the Community Standards and LL of course reserves the right to make all final decisions.

7. Repeat above for creation of fantastic ResMod team!
