The Luna Oaks Galleria --Second Life's exciting new retail concept-- is ready to award space to the very first group of retail tenants. The Galleria offers two-month leases on a varied range of shop sizes – ranging from 16 square meter Kiosks all the way up to breathtaking 1,300 square meter anchor stores. In order to accommodate proper amounts of retail merchandise, only a small part of the region will be leased and Linden builds will be kept to a minimum -- Galleria merchants will enjoy a primitive allocation five-times higher than normal.

Leases for the six biggest spaces are being offered in a Linden Dollar auction closing Sunday, January 11. These are awaiting your bid at Second Life Auctions.

Leases for the 40 smaller shops will be awarded by lottery. The deadline for lottery entrants is Friday, January 9 at 3 PM PST. The first ten names drawn will be awarded a 64 square meter “Walk-in” store with space for the sale of 33 primitives. The next eight names drawn will be awarded a 32 square meter “Stand” with a 15 prim allowance. The next 22 entrants selected will get a 16 square meter “Kiosk” with seven prims available.

If you win space in both the lottery and the auction, then your lottery parcel will be given to someone else.

Merchants may sell items owned by others. Modification of the beautiful Galleria structures will be limited to interior changes that are not apparent from the outside. Merchants may create signs but the signs must be no higher than the store. Participants are not allowed to sell their parcels, but they can be released back to a Linden before the two-month lease ends. After two months, new leases will be auctioned and distributed via lottery. Previous winners will be allowed to bid or enter the lottery.

The Luna Oaks Galleria is not intended to replace Resident-built shopping centers and stores in Second Life, and Galleria merchants are more than welcome to direct shoppers to larger outlets in other Regions -- "If you like what you see here, grab this landmark and visit my main store."

Ok, here are the winners of two-month leases to the 40 smaller stores in the Luna Oaks Galleria. The corresponding parcels are numbered and should be set for "sale" for $1L to the winner by Monday, January 12.

If you want a smaller store than the one you won, or have other concerns, then IM Char Linden.

Six larger stores will be auctioned on Sunday, January 12. If you win one of those, then you have to give up your smaller store.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who entered.

There's a slight delay until we can reset the prim limits for the Luna sim. We hope to have that done on Monday.

Luna Oaks Rules Updated
01-16-2004 16:59
Since we've never done an official shopping area, we need to clarify the guidelines as we go. Please check the info card dispenser in the middle of the center for future updates.

Merchants may sell their own items or items owned by others. Please keep PG as this is a PG area.

Modification of the beautiful Galleria structures will be limited to *interior changes* that are not apparent from the outside.

Items for sale must be "in" stores please and no higher than store ceilings. Other items such as plants or non-for sale items can be placed on the concrete areas directly in front of stores that is a part of that stores design. Please ask if you have any further questions on this.

All items must be on your property and not on Linden owned land. If on Linden land they will be returned to your inventory.

Please no looping sound files.

Please no scripts that would cause area lag.

Please no particles used that would drift off the size of your plot.

Merchants may create signs but the signs must be no higher than the store.

You may hold events and gatherings at the Galleria.

After two months, new leases will be auctioned and distributed via lottery. Previous winners will be allowed to bid or enter the lottery.
