Greetings!
The Northern Continent in Second Life is home to the Second Life Railroad (SLRR), a railway that traverses a total of 11 different sims. The train is currently working, but we need help building Train Stations!
We’d like to invite all interested Residents to submit proposals for the following stations: SLRR Station 1, Tuliptree (151, 151) SLRR Station 2, Calleta (189, 174) SLRR Station 3, Neumoegen (109, 153) SLRR Station 4, Achemon (220, 122) SLRR Station 5, Obscure (53, 123)
* What is Linden Lab looking for? We’re want Train Stations that are unique and memorable to Residents. Builds that enhance and complement the local community. The train is already scripted to automatically stop at each station to pick up and let off passengers. Each plot is 512 sq meters, giving you 117 available prims to build with.
* What do Residents have to submit? If you are interested, please submit the following to Nigel Linden inworld: 1) The specific Train Station you are bidding on (1-5) 2) A mock-up of your proposed design (photos, model or a landmark to a completed mock-up we can view). 3) Some snapshots and descriptions of previous builds you have completed.
** Please only bid on ONE SPECIFIC station, as we want to award bids to 5 different Residents/groups.
* What do Residents get if they win a bid? Each winning bid will receive 15,000 Lindens as payment for the completion of the station.
* How long do we have? We will accept bid submissions from now until AUGUST 19. We’ll review all submitted bids (judged by a group of Lindens) and will announce the winner in this thread on August 19 by 5pm SLT. The Residents who win these bids will then have until AUGUST 22 to complete the final construction.
* Why is Linden Lab doing this? Second Life is all about the creativity of the Residents. We’ve created a railway in the Northern Continent, and the train is running just fine. But we want to give Residents the opportunity to create the actual Train Stations at each of the 5 stops.
If you’re interested, please check out the plots and contact Nigel Linden for further details!
Take care, -Pathfinder Linden

We are getting some great entries submitted. Here is an update: Station 1 - 1 entry Station 2 - ZERO (feeling neglected) Station 3 - ZERO (also feeling neglected) Station 4 - 5 entries (WOW) Station 5 - 3 entries (great) Maybe some of you can show Stations 2 and 3 some luv !! Still lots of time. We will be judging on the 19th August [EDIT] NOTE: Each plot is now set to AUTORETURN after 5 hours. We have no objection to you trying your station on the plot or even building it there. Please leave the plots clear before you logout or you risk losing anything left there and please respect the neighbours

SLRR Station contest update
08-23-2005 08:59
I would like to thank you all for the very high standard of your entries. They break down as follows: Station 1 - 7 entries Station 2 - 11 entries Station 3 - 20 entries Station 4 - 7 entries Station 5 - 8 entries Below is a snap of the huge display board. Each entry has a notecard inside (given on click) with design notes and all the snaps provided by the bidder. They also have floating text above stationg the station and bidders name. Judging is open to all Lindens (except myself). I felt this was fair and they will be checking out all the bids between now and 7pm SL time. As stated before, I will post the results here and contact the winners as close to 8pm SL time as possible (I still have my Liaison shift to do today) Again I would like to thank you all for the hours of work you have put into building stations for our railroad system. Good Luck to you all

We have winners !!
08-23-2005 20:28
We would like to thank all that entered the SLRR Station Contest. The standard was very high. It is sad in a way that there had to be winners as so many fitted the surroundings of each plot so well. Here as promised are the winners.
Station 1, Tuliptree - Sam Portocarrero Station 2, Calleta - Nimrod Yaffle Station 3, Neumoegen - Fallingwater Cellardoor Station 4, Achemon - Pratyeka Muromachi Station 5, Obscure - Jauani Wu
Please contact Pathfinder Linden for payment after completing your builds on the allotted plots. Note that the build must be transferred to us and will then be our property. You may contact Nigel Linden to have your completed build transferred to Linden ownership. Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to all that took part in this fun competition.
