1.6 Known Issues:
We have been getting many of the same support and issues entries. In order to consolidate all information in one place, I’ve started this thread to be your one-stop shop for all 1.6 related issues. Also, please take the time to read the release notes.
• Your inventory is no streamed in. If open your inventory and it does not show immediately, do not assume it is due to content loss. Please wait a few second, possibly longer during peak hours, for your inventory to download to you over time.
• Lost/Missing content: Some objects vanished in the 1.6 update. The only objects affected (that we know about) were those that used llSetText() script call with a newline '\n' as the very first character in the text. If you think you've lost items due to this problem please report the name of the simulator where the object was lost and we will try to recover them.
This llSetText() problem also affects some items in inventory making them unrezzable and generating the error message "Unable to create requested object - parse failure." This problem will be fixed in 1.6.1.
• Second Life may crash if you assign a movie to a texture on in About Land, but don't actually use that texture on an object. The crash is not immediate -- it often occurs 30 seconds later. To avoid this crash, first apply the movie replacement texture to an object, then select the texture and URL in About Land. This bug is fixed in Second Life 1.6.1
• Landmarks will not appear in the drop down menu list until your landmark inventory folder has been loaded.
• Some inventory items may incorrectly filter while using the inventory search filters. These items will be automatically fixed over time without intervention.
• Distance to beacon is no longer displayed or at least, visible.
• Second Life is not currently supported on Windows 98 and ME.
• Movies require that you install Quicktime. Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ for the installer.
• You can still use the old color picker. Go to Edit > Preferences > General and check the "Use default system color picker" check box
• Moving objects or attachments with animated textures may pop in and out of view.
1.6 Important Changes:
• Combo key commands that previously used the alt key have been moved to the ctrl/command + shift keys. For example the the statistics bar has moved: Alt-1 is now moved to Ctrl-Shift-1. These changes also include force sun which is now on Ctrl-Shift-N.
• The texture picker has been changed to no longer display (no copy) textures when "Apply Immediately" is selected.
We will update this message as more known issues surface.
