In order to improve the SecondLife experience, we have just released new viewers for both Mac OS X and Windows clients. This new viewer fixes a problem introduced in 1.7 where SecondLife's initial graphics settings would be incorrect for some hardware.

While this problem affects a fairly small group of residents, we recommend updating to 1.7.2(5) as soon as possible. It is an optional update for now, but may be made mandatory in the near future.

1.7.2(5) is now the current (and only) viewer version

As mentioned in the original release announcement, the new version has now become a mandatory update; Second Life 1.7.2(5) is now the required version.
