Second Life Mardi Gras Events Announced!

Last fall, the SL Katrina Relief group did an amazing job building the two Linden Lab loaned regions Biloxi and Big Easy - virtual representations of Mississippi and New Orleans - after Hurricane Katrina devastated the American coastline.

As interest in holding events on the two islands has waned, we'd like to send the regions off in a celebration for the 150th anniversary of Mardi Gras next week! Those interested in planning or participating in the big event - to be held Feb. 28 - should join the in-world group SL Mardi Gras!

Hold a parade in the virtual Big Easy, throw beads at friends or just hold a giant party in celebration of the New Orleans spirit.

Join the group and if you're interested in holding an event, join us on Big Easy (127, 118, 25) for a coordination/kick off meeting Wed. Feb 22 (tomorrow!) at 5pm SLT.

Event Announcement:
On Tuesday, February 28, Second Life is pleased to announce the closing event of the Biloxi and Big Easy regions with a giant Mardi Gras party, parade, music and more. More event details as they are finalized.

What: SL Mardi Gras on Big Easy, Biloxi regions
When: Tuesday, Feb. 28, events throughout the day
Who: All Second Life Residents are encouraged to participate!
Why: To celebrate the creativity explored on the Biloxi and Big Easy sims, raise money for the Katrina hurricane victims, and send-off the two sims in style.


Build a Float, Be in a Parade
Want to participate in the event in a more hands-on and creative way? Contact Sitearm Madonna for more information on participating in a special Mardi Gras parade through the streets of the Big Easy!

Float Design Specs:
We will have a script that will take the floats along a route with the use of waypoints. Builders should construct their floats using no more than 25 prims.
