If you didn't, after reading that sentence, you do now.

There was an article in the May 2006 Second Opinion Newsletter too.
Planning has begun, and you can find out more at the Third Birthday Event page on teh awesome, Resident-run SL History Wiki. What's going to happen is the vehicle regions (Bethel, Brilliant, etc.) are going to be used, and Residents can hold their own parties at their fave locales and home bases too. We'll be posting announcements of these, as more details emerge, to help get the word out.
2006 has been such a year of rapid growth and excitement. SL's 3rd birthday is open to the whole community, and we warmly encourage all interested Residents to get involved and celebrate the spirit of Second Life!

First up, Amalthea Blanc wants to welcome creative Residents to participate an art show! Read on...

SL will celebrate its 3-year anniversary this summer, June 21-25th! Come participate and help make this a historical moment by developing the art showcase.

***The big idea***
We plan on organizing a completely interactive space for experiencing many different artforms. With some inspiration from the surrealistic Dali paintings, we would like to create an innovative collaborative space. The goal is to offer a broad overview of all the artistic efforts present in SL so far, from sculptures, to real life art exhibited in SL, to outstanding machinima installations, artistic SL snapshots, and much more. Here's how you can be a part of it!
1) Provide content!
The Bethel sim will be our home for the art showcase. If you have sculptures, paintings, or other artwork you'd like to exhibit, you have to be available for setup during June 17th-21st. If you cannot log in at that time and would still like to be included, please contact Amalthea Blanc to work out a way to have your items set up for you.
2) Help script the interactive features!
We're looking for a few good LSL scripters to help code some of the space manipulations we have in mind or come up with your own interesting ideas. Again, contact Amalthea Blanc for some concrete examples.
3) If you create machinima or are involved in live music, we need you!
For machinima, we're looking for meaningful pieces on SL, preferably something in a format that we can stream inworld. For live music, if you cannot insure a few streaming mp3s for the showcase, we'd like to at least document your presence in SL through images and information givers.
There are a lot more opportunities to get involved with the landscaping and creating novel art showcasing structures. All groups and individuals interested in participating in this effort are welcome! Hope to hear from you soon.
