I have seen the future, brothers and sisters – I have seen the future of Second Life. If only words were capable of describing what it’s like in 1.1… I’d share with you the beautiful things I have seen, but this is really just something you have to SEE FOR YOURSELF.
Yes, see it for yourself by taking part in the second of a series of special sneak peeks at Second Life 1.1 Beta. On Thursday, September 18 between 5 and 7pm PST, Second Life Residents will have the opportunity to visit the world of tomorrow. Better mapping and tracking, improved terrain and groups, faster servers, and the all the bumpy-shiny eye candy you can handle – see it for yourself while helping us to assess performance and stamp out bugs so that 1.1 can be optimized prior to its release.
There will be a special dog pile at 5:30 where we will try to set the record for number of avatars in one sim.
If you see a problem with the way your avatar looks in the test, please take a photo showing the difference and send it to bugs@lindenlab.com.
This sneak preview will take place in a facsimile of some familiar parts of Second Life – you’ll recognize your surroundings, but changes made here won’t affect the real Second Life. Uploads and money are likewise divorced from reality – so spend and build to your heart’s content.
Enjoy your sneak peek at the future, and stay tuned for additional opportunities to visit 1.1 Beta before the official launch.
Just go to http://www.secondlife.com/preview any time between 5 and 7pm PST on Thursday, September 18 and follow the instructions.
Please note: This is a "preview" version of Second Life version 1.1. Any activities that take place here will not affect the "live" version of Second Life. Linden Lab will NOT be able to copy over creations, scripts, or any in-world items.
