The Northern Continent in Second Life is home to the Second Life Railroad (SLRR), a railway that consists of 3 tracks and runs a total of 53 different regions. We commissioned 5 stations a while back by this same process. We now need more Stations!

We invite all interested Residents to submit proposals for the following stations:

1. SLRR Bhaga Terminal, Bhaga (103, 26, 28)

2. SLRR Tenera Station, Tenera (200, 141, 83)

3. SLRR Aglia Station, Aglia (147, 146, 83)

4. SLRR Crenulate Station, Crenulate (145, 29, 86)

5. SLRR Clearwing/Paranthrene Station, Clearwing (255, 26, 86)

6. SLRR Foxglove Station, Foxglove (147, 230, 90)

7. SLRR Lunalis, Lunalis (34, 78, 90)

8. SLRR Spini Station, Spini (98, 10, 81)

9. SLRR Jubata Station, Jubata (200, 237, 82)

10. SLRR Epirrhoe Station, Epirrhoe (172, 225, 81)

* What is Linden Lab looking for?
We want Train Stations that are unique and memorable to Residents. Builds that enhance and complement the local community. The train is already scripted to automatically stop at each station to pick up and let off passengers. Each plot is 512 sq meters, giving you 117 available prims to build with.

* What do Residents have to submit?
If you are interested, please submit the following to Nigel Linden inworld:
1) A notecard with the specific Train Station you are bidding on (1-10)
2) A mock-up of your proposed design (photos or model).
3) The names of any other group members on your project.

** Please only bid on ONE SPECIFIC station, as we want to award each bid to a different Resident/group.

* What do Residents get if they win a bid?
Each winning bid will receive 15,000 Lindens as payment for the completion of the station.

* How long do we have?
We will accept bid submissions from now until Midnight(PST or SL time) on OCTOBER 22nd. We'll review all submitted bids (judged by a group of Lindens) and will announce the winner on OCTOBER 25th. The Residents who win these bids will then have until OCTOBER 31st to complete the final construction.

* Why is Linden Lab doing this?
Second Life is all about the creativity of the Residents. We've created a railway in the Northern Continent, and the train is running just fine. We commissioned 5 stations before. Now we want to give Residents the opportunity to create more Stations.

If you're interested, please check out the plots and contact me (Nigel Linden) for further details!

Best wishes to you all
Nigel Linden

NOTE: Each plot is set to AUTORETURN after 6 hours.

We have no objection to you trying your station on the plot or even building it there.

Please leave the plots clear before you logout or you risk losing anything left there and please respect the neighbours

SLRR Station Build Bid - Results !
10-25-2006 13:33
Here they are at long last. Scroll down if you bore easy ;)

I would like to thank all 103 entries and all of you that that helped in this build bid. You have yet again amazed us with your building skills. I certainly don't have the imagination that some of you showed in your designs. WTG each and every one of you !!

I invited all Lindens to come study and vote for one station per board. I put all the entries for each station plot on that board. All day I was receiving emails from Lindens with their votes.

Today I was up early yet again today (after a really long monday perparing for voting) and got to work counting votes.

We will be displaying the boards in Ambleside sometime tomorrow (I need a rest *Phew*)

Ok so here we go for the Second Life RailRoad (SLRR) Station build bids:

1. Bhaga - Alazarin Mondrian

2. Tenera - Shawk Pertwee

3. Aglia - Elliot Eldrich

4. Crenulate - Donk Kongo

5. Clearwing/Paranthrene - Ralph Doctorow

6. Foxglove - Midtown Bienenstrich

7. Lunalis - Lunalis SLRR Committee

8. Spini - Mordecai Nitschke

9. Jubata - Ilianexsi Sojourner

10. Epirrhoe - Ledje Gorky

11. Zale - Byron Curtis

So a huge congrats to the successful bidders !!

Question: My bid was choosen. What do I do next?

Answer: Tomorrow you can start work on the station plot. I will be running around checking the plots. when your build is completed please IM me (Nigel Linden). I will come and buy it from you for the agreed L$15,000 !

The choosen build bids have untill the 31st October to complete their station builds on the plots designated.

Again a huge thank you to all that took part in the SLRR Station Build Bid.

Watch out for more news from the SLRR !!

Nigel Linden
