Problem resolved.
A bug in one of our core servers caused the login issue. Unfortunately, while attempting to diagnose that problem I took down another core service by mistake. 2am typos are the worst kind of typos. A full grid restart was necessary to recover from both conditions. I apologize for the inconvenience.
