I'm very new to SL, so please excuse any ignorance.

I've been trying to log in with the preview version (1.9.1.16), but consistently am told my login information is incorrect. I'm using a free account, but haven't seen anything indicating that would be a problem. Suggestions?

No ignorance--glad you asked!

This is prolly because you're a newborn to SL. :) The "snapshot" of Preview was taken in March, before you were in SL, so your account doesn't exist on Preview Grid.

Sorry you can't make it into this one, but hopefully you can join us in the next major Preview!

Frustrated with Preview

I wish this had been explained along with the link to the preview given with today's announcement of SL downtime status.

As a new user and an ex-software tester I was looking forward to previewing 1.9.1 only to run into the same problem with the password.

If this had been explained I wouldn't have bothered downloading and installing the preview and then trying to find out why my password suddenly didn't work.

Sorry about that! I agree--

Yeah, should be more self-explanatory on the Preview page itself. Historically it's usually been hidden in the notes or something or put in an Announcement like:

/3/74/100111/1.html

should be broadly visible.

Also Torley if I may add to that...
If you are normally able to log into the Preview grid (accounts opened before March), and you get an incorrect password message. You may have changed your password since then.

I think that when it takes the "snapshot" your password at that time "sticks" and does not change when you change it in your account (amI correct Torley?). So those who might change their password a lot will have to remember it.

I know because I have to log in to the Preview grid with an old password myslef and sometimes I forget and put in my current password for the Main Grid and get that error.

;)
