Ripple Water Gone Again

I can access Ripple Water in the main grid. I couldn't in preview for a while, but then I updated my drivers and things got tweaked, and in 1.9.1.14 I could use it again. Everything worked fine, in fact -- Vertex Shaders slowed things down, but they were working.

And now in 1.9.1.16 I can't see the ripply water (I never got a chance to try .15), and I can't change the rendering detail levels of anything except avatars. I know the programmers are hard at work, but it's really disappointing to have features I could use before suddenly vanish.

Edit: I'm using Windows XP, Pentium 4 processor (3.2 GHz), NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (32 MB of memory), Omega 1.6693 drivers. And yes, I filed a bug report.

I assume "shaders" is on in "Graphics" prefs? 32MB isn't much vid RAM these days...and that Go GPU is a dog. Laptop? You should upgrade your video...

Shaders are on, yes.

And yeah, it's a laptop. I know it's not a very good system. I'm just frustrated that, while it can clearly handle things like ripple water, I can't access those features anymore.

I believe ripple water only appears now with medium or higher environment detail set in vertex shader options, per the release notes.

Yeah. And I can't set medium or high environment detail because environment detail is completely grayed out for me.

It might be possible to make ripple water work again by modifying the featuretable.txt file in the Program Files\SeondLife folder.

There is a setting "RenderRippleWater 1 0" which might be able to be changed to "RenderRippleWater 1 1" somewhere in that file to trick SL into allowing your system to ripple water.
