Hello all
I'm playing on Mac OS X with a PowerBook G4 1,67 GHz, Radeon 9700 Mobility graphics chip, with Windows XP on an Athlon XP 3000+, GeForce 5600 and sometimes on Linux on an old and shabby Pentium III 1200 MHz laptop, Radeon Mobility M6 graphics using Wine and XOrg 7 drivers (I know it sounds weird, but it's actually playable even if it's absolutely unsupported). I've got one question: Why can't I activate ANY of the shader options on my Mac even if SL was rather useable on my GeForce 5600 with the shaders activated? And even if performance was bad here and there, I want to be able to decide which settings I want to use to try it out in certain situations. I think it's a general problem that SL just doesn't allow the individual hardware components to perform like they could in optimal conditions. I understand that it's a hard task to make it run quickly without map files that have been compiled beforehand or with level designers - the residents - that don't think about making invisible surfaces as simple to compute as possible, but I'm still concerned about the way SL's performance is dropping and about the early release of 1.9.1.
