I've found that with Vertex Shaders enabled, avatars don't exist to the mouse cursor. I can't hover-over for an avatar name, I can't alt-click to focus on an avatar, and I can't right-click for an avatar's pie menu. Turning vertex shaders 'off' solves the problem. Also, I can still select objects that are attached to my avatar while vertex shaders are 'on'.

Other folks within preview didn't have the same problem when I questioned whether they could click my avatar with vertex shaders 'on.' I also get the spectrum overlay effect on all 32-bit textures. The spectrum offsets and repeats same as the base texture of which it overlays.

For reference, my video card is the ATI x850XT AGP, 256MB RAM.

I had a similar problem with the base ATI drivers. For me, it did your graphics glitch, mouse glitch, and all avatars floated about or became 2d at certain angles and stretched off to a point behind the camera. When I switched to Omega drivers it cleared up (and SL on the whole is another 2 or 3 fps faster for my troubles). But it shouldn't be doing that with default drivers, not everyone has the confidence to replace their drivers.

I don't have either of these problems with a GeForce 6600GT (Forceware 84.21).
